Looking to purchase my first gps/sonar. Will be mounted on the back of an Alaskan 1600 tiller. Mainly musky fishing, mainly casting.

Looking at the Lowrance Hooks 5 that has gps, sonar and DI. I think it was $670.

The HB Helix 7 with sonar and gps only. $650.

Any other suggestions in that price range?

I am in Canada, so prices are quite a bit different than the US

So you're in the roughly $400 US range? I'm a Lowrance guy and of those 2 models you mention, I'd get the Helix. The bigger screen is the way to go. Might be able to find an Elite 7 (non TI model) in that range that would probably compare well to the Helix. But it's a year old....

Pricing is very different in Canada versus the US. And getting such a thing shipped from US, the price will pretty much be doubled by the time I get it here.

Looking at the Helix 7 with sonar and gps for around $640 canadian all in right now. Just went on sale.
