I've always used a Calcutta or a Sailtist on my light Saltwater Rods and whenever used rinsed as soon as I got home with Warm/Hot Water........Never a Problem...Could a Abu Garcia Record be used in Saltwater without ruining the reel if it also cleaned and Rinsed after use.????? I have one and I was debating just using it in Salt for small stuff....Mike

You can use anything in saltwater as long as you take care of it afterword and in between. Thorough rinses, cleaning and lubing. But also remember to rinse it after you take it out even if you don't use it...the salt spray and salt in the air can corrode stuff if you're not careful.

Years ago I would take my bass reels to Florida for a week every year. Saltwater fishing. I always rinsed after use and ditched the line when I got home and gave it a good cleaning. Never had an issue.
