I hope this question does not irritate anyone like the last question did. Sorry about that, guys.

I hear ya Chris... You could potentially retire and spend the rest of your life fishing every day

I like both but I picked the bass, could sell more coffee mugs and autographed pictures.

The endorsement value of a world record bass would be limitless. That could be a ten million dollar fish that would fund endless trips to the northland to chase toothy monsters.

Once again using two different units of measure in your poll. I voted bass again. A 60" muskie might weigh 30lbs. A world record bass regardless of length will be north of 22lbs 4oz.

The biggest reason I chose bass is a properly marketed world record bass will fund quite a few fishing adventures.

I think the biggest positive from these polls concerning muskies is that the importance of length proves just how ingrained the CPR mentality is in the musky world. If they were getting bonked and put on a scale that inches would be lbs and comparatively smaller.

What makes you guys think the world record bass (or muskie) is worth anything besides some free gear?
You think Pure Fishing or a corporation like that is going to fork over a million dollars to some knucklehead who got lucky and caught a big fish?

I think a world record bass would bring a lot of money to the person who catches it, regardless of who catches it. More bass fishermen than any other species. Every Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop would pay a fee to display a replica, just one example.

Milo Hanson made a lot of money with his world record whitetail. And I think there are more bass fishermen than whitetail hunters.

The Moccasin Bar will give you $100,000 for your world record musky *IF* you catch it in a Hayward area lake. The insurance company made them put that clause in the contest so they'd never have to pay it out.

I absolutely think the lucky angler could make some money off the deal and score some free gear. My guess is the earning potential is 5 figures not 7 figures. Not getting rich but could fund some LOTW adventures. Or maybe even a few guided trips to the waters that upper 50 to potential 60" fish actually swim.

I don't think the WR musky would be worth much as the musky world is tiny compared to the world of the green bass.

Didn't ESPN do a special on a couple of guys, who a few years back, basically revolved their lives around a specific bass in California? I remeber something about a million dollar prize if the world record LMB could be caught. Supposedly one of the guys caught it, but it was foul hooked, and the fish weighed +25lbs.

Google dotty the bass. A true freak of nature. That lake produces giant bass as they feast on rainbow trout.

Ask Manabu Kurita how much he got for his record bass.

If you were a communications major or tournament pro or guide extraordinaire you might be able to make a decent living out of it. But someone please explain what business has deep enough pockets to fork over thousands of dollars to some jagoff just because he caught a big fish. You might get something for the skin mount, but beyond that it just isn't a wise investment for any company to payroll someone for no reason other than that they got lucky once.

We will argue about anything. We cannot even come to a consensus on where the twin cities are located. Could you imagine if this was bluegillfirst we would be arguing over 1/16" of an inch!

Just award a little blue participation ribbon to all voters that says "I voted in the silliest poll ever" and everybody will be happy. Arguments won't be necessary because hey, everyone wins !

Instead of the championship award being presented now?:-)

Hmmm, we might be on to something here, a winternet championship. Build points, hand out awards. I like it!

That's because on Musky TV they keep misdirecting us. I just finally got over the geographical confusion of the "Iowa Farmland Musky" episode a few years back. Fast forward 4-5 years and now I'm completely lost trying to find a lake in SW MN filled with reed beds and cabbage while being surrounded by forest. Every time I go home to visit family in SD from the TC area I'm gonna be looking for that magical forest lake while driving through SW MN.

TV is causing even more confusion than apple vs oranges polls on the internet.

Nick, during the episode Ben clearly said north central Minnesota. Based on consensus on where that could possibly be, hell could have been vermillion!

Considering that some (many?) think the TC is "central minnesota", then North Central could be anything from St. Cloud to I'Falls.

Yeah I know he said north central MN and know what lake they were fishing. I just find the title a lot of fun when they start the episode driving down a forest road. Those are mighty hard to come by in SW MN.... There were a bunch of cryptic clues in the other episode I mentioned as well.

Always good fun trying to figure out where the TV shows are fishing!

60 for sure. I'll never even see one, so getting one would be so over the top the rest of my life. Big Bass? Eh whatever. I'd take a lost 60 over a record bass.

I think we should vote based on putting the "might make money off this" factor aside. Cause if I caught the world record bass and got $10 million for it, I would retire, move up north and spend the rest of my life trying to catch 60" muskies. So how can I not vote for 60" musky?
