If I'm running a Lowrance LMS-522 as a gps map and standard sonar for depth, can I run a Helix 5 or 7 SI at the same time with only side imaging on or will they have interference? Also is anyone using the 5 with only side imaging and is it large enough or is the 7 a better option not much in price difference.

Get the biggest screen you can afford. As far as interference goes, yes there will be some. As long as you run them at different frequencies it will be minimized.

What is the main difference between these new Helix models and the traditional 899's or 999's??
Did a little looking, screen size and price are the first 2 things that jump out. The helix 5 or 7 seem to be very capable units with a nice simple layout. Small screen. I will be purchasing a helix 5 di gps for the little boat for sure. They can be had for about 300-350.
