Has anyone tried making a lure from machinable plastic like uhmw or hdpe? Just curious, we use them a lot at work and I have access to scrap.

You might try the following since you have an inexpensive supply of material. See if you can get epoxy to evenly cover a rounded surface. If that works you can paint over the epoxy. Epoxy won't stick to everything and I'm not sure about polyethylene.
