Location: Forest Lake Minnesota | I was wondering what you guys think about minnesota having a split state opener for muskies? Something like the southern part of the state would open on Memorial Day and the north wouldn't open till the first saturday in June, like it is now.
Lets face it the muskies have long finished spawning on most metro lakes.
It would make legitimate fisherman out of some of the law breakers I have been seeing lately.

Location: Minneapolis,Minnesota | Even though I agree with what HH says about not having to buy the WI license to be able to fish earlier. I wouldn't be in favor of it, Leave it the way it is. Minnesota DNR & MI has done a great job producing world class muskie fishing through out the state. If it aint broke don't fix it.
Yeah, and what is the deal with all the "pike" fisherman in Minnesota? When I lived there I would see more of these guys out throwing bucktails and 6" twitch baits with their St Croix rods, and when you tell them the season opens in June you get "I'm pike fishing I can't help that muskie eat the same lures as pike".....yeah they do, especially when you're throwing muskie baits. Bunch a hacks! | |
