Does anybody have any experience with this reel?

Would it work OK for burning blades? 8's and smaller.

I have no experience with it yet but, I got one for Christmas. The reason I had it on my list is the same reason that you're thinking. I'm going to put it on my St. Croix LT Top and Tail and hope for the best. If it doesn't work for that it'll make a nice bass swim bait rig.

I prefer the 300h over the hs for burning small blades it's plenty fast.

NO it has zero power. If your dead set on a LEXA 300 get one with a lower ratio.

The HD Lexa reels in 7 gears or 8 gears I would NOT use for any lure that has resistant.
Maybe the 7 gear for line pickup on jerk baits but I wonder if it will have any cranking power when fighting a fish ?????

So you would say 8's have to much resistance for that reel?

Any suggestions on a smaller reel for burning smaller blades?

I have the 400HS-P, it pulls in more line the the 300 HS-P but has the same gear ratio. I don't have any issues burning 8's with it. It pulls 10's in OK but I'd rather use a lower gear for those.

Get a Curado, or a Beast 50. I felt the 300HSp had a hard time pulling musky spinner baits let alone dbl 8s. Sure it can be done but at the cost of you majorly over working yourself and the reel will not last very long.

Lexa 400 PWR-P would handle blades better all around, and it'll easily handle bigger stuff

if you are 21 years old then nothing will stop you but most guys over 30 will not like a 7 or 8 gear reel for any blades.

Yep there was a time when I swore by Curados. As I got older (now 38) and started using bigger baits and more powerful reels there is no way Id use a Curado anymore either. Just too much work at the end of the day.
