| I am looking at getting an 8'6" rod for small bucktails, topwater and smaller twitchbaits. I am undecided if I want to go with the Long Ranger or the Sling Blade. I currently have a specific rod for just about everything else. I know that there are other rods out there, but looking to stay with St. Croix, possibly a Thornes custom. |

Couple questions:
1) Why 8'6", and would you be opposed to going longer?
2) What kind of twitchbaits?

| Do you prefer a Fast action rod, or a softer rod that loads deeper in the cast ?

| I am looking for something a with more action in the tip. I don't really think I need anything longer than that seeing that I have a couple 9 footers already.
The cranks I plan to use it for are cranes, big games, shallow invaders etc. |

| Sling blade no doubt, works in the tip of the rod with a stiff lower section, love mine :D |
