Watched Larry Dahlberg's show today. He made a plea for muskie fisherman to write to Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency and request them to disallow the use of live bait during the cold water period at Melton Hill, especially when so many of the fish are congregated at the warm water discharge. Apparently the single hook rig is still fairly popular there and is killing a lot of fish. Here's the email address he gave:

I don't know if changes have been made but that show was from a few years back.

As of March 2015 when we were down there last year, changes had not been made. Sad to see, great fishing, with even better potential, if locals would recognize the importance and fun that muskie fishing can be. This episode was aired about 2 -3 years ago, great episode!

I fished Melton Hill a couple of years ago and the DNR officer told us that we should go and get live trout, like the striper guys were using.

True, guys sit on shore by the Warm water discharge, and Cherry Pick them, then cut the lines and the musky eventually die. There is a decent casting bite and some great structure, it is a hit and miss bite depending on the weather changes
