Just wondering if anyone can come up with a good suggestion for gloves. I currently use a winter golf glove but they get wet and are useless after awhile.

Steve,
Check out Sealskinz gloves, this will be my third year using them they are awesome. They are pretty good right up till the absolute coldest weather. I have used them down into the 20s with no problems as long as you keep your hands active. They are water proof, with good mobility and griping.

Cabels sells them, check out the following link if it works.

I just picked up some Simms gloves that can be found at most fly fishing shops. I will be trying this weekend for the first time, but they look to be a very good improvement over the neoprine (I am sure I spelled that wrong)

Otherwise, you might want to check out Cabela's, they sell a cold weather glove that runs about $35.00 about the same price as the above gloves that have half fingers.

Neopreem(not sure on the spelling)scuba diving gloves. These are the same gloves used in the NFL. Work great!!!!!!!
Wet your hands before you put them on and your body heat warms the water that it trapped inside. There thin enough that you still can cast without any troubles.

Steve, I`ve got some gloves that I think are the Sealskins that were mentioned before. They`re made out of something called "Stormkloth". It`s some nice stuff. Water repellant and warm but they are thin and easy to get used to,not like the thick neoprene gloves. If you can find any made from Stormkloth, I`d reccommend them.

I use ducks unlimited gore tex thinsulate gloves. they will keep your hands dry and warm, no matter how much spray gets on them. They will also allow your hands to breathe, saving you from the wet from pirspiration hands that accompany any neoprene gloves. They are way softer and far more flexible than any other glove I have ever tried. The index finger of each one is a thinner and tighter fitting material than the rest of the glove. They are made for shooting, but work just as well for crankin''!!! I got them at Fleet Farm for about $30. I have also seen them at Gander Mountain. A bit expensive, but you''ll think they are worth 3 times that price after using them for the first time. They are camo colored on the outside and the palm and fingers are made out of a soft rubbery or fake leather type of material and have great gripping action. I also sprayed the outside with some silicone waterproofer to keep the outside material as dry (and therefore as warm) as possible. I also use them for grouse hunting.

One thing I wanted to mention about Neoprene gloves-because of the nature of Neoprene, it is a good idea to buy a pair that is somewhat loose on your hands. The rubber-like material will cut off the circulation if you buy snug fitting gloves, and that will actually make your hands colder. I use polypropelene liners inside a pair of Large Neoprenes when picking up decoys in very cold weather. Otherwise I use Mountain Hardware Gore Windstopper glvoes for fishing. They stay warm even when wet, and aren't too bulky to fish with.

What you need to do is damage your spinal cord at the C5, C6 area, and your hands won't get too cold. I have to watch it or I will frostbite mine before I know it. I have been known to use my hands to scoop ice shavings out of the way of my Crappie float in the winter...

I use the diving gloves, but will be heading to Fleet Farm tomorrow.
