| Hooked up my charger and woke up to about a 70 percent charge on my battery. I noticed when charging on the 10 amp cycle that the internal circuit kicks out after putting out a charge for about 30 seconds. The charger is only a year old. Is it typical for a charger to kick out that often or is this charger fried? On the 2 amp trickle it rarely kicks out and stops charging. Any ideas? |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sounds like a problem with the charger or a connection. Sometimes a connection will allow a trickle charge, but not full charge without kicking the breaker. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Fish On - Sorry gotta agree w/ Steve. Sounds like it's time for a new charger. Don't keep trying with that one-it could damage the battery. Have you had thunderstorms while the charger was plugged in? If so it may have gotten smacked by lightning surges. | If in doubt, replace the charger. It seems to me that we musky nuts use them so much that a bad one is a serious fire hazard. |

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Just to go against the grain--don't toss the charger yet. An internal short in the battery could cause the circuit breaker in the charger to trip at the higher amp setting, but not the lower trickle charge. Try the charger on another battery(your car for instance). Eliminate possibilities before throwing money away. |
