| I am toying with the idea of spooling a reel with Flourocarbon next year. I have a desire to get some baits deeper in the water column that 65-100 pd braid doesn't allow you to reach. Has anyone attempted this and if so, what pd test did was used? |

| Use different baits, or add weight to the baits, no need to switch to fluorocarbon. Waste of time IMO. |

| I used 25 lb and 30 lb trilene fluocarbon for pike fishing here in Europe. No need to to fish anything heavier in my opinion. It works great for Spinnerbaits, Crankbaits and especially swimbaits as they move more natural on it.
Would not use it as a jigging or heavy rubber line, thats where braid really shines.
If the water is clear and pressured it can make a difference in getting a lot more bites because if its stealthiness.
Lures will run only a little deeper because the water resistence of it is still high on that thick diameter.

| Lures will not run deeper. The diameter of 25lbs fluoro compared to 50lbs braid far outweighs any advantage of the former's relative sinking properties. Nor does your comment about baits moving more "naturally" make any sense. Fluoro for a given test weight is heavier and thicker, negatively affecting lure action.
Clear water....you think fluoro makes a diff????...tie a leader on otherwise fluoro
is a highly overrated fish line technology; stretches as much as mono, is silly expensive, and has the worse memory of all lines.
Want deep?.....lead core or downrigger.

| I tried 65 pound braid and 25 pound fluo on the same rod and reel setup. I really liked the way smaller crankbaits and swimbaits moved in the water. The crank- and twitchbaits had more wander (I like that) and the swimbaits (especially glidebaits) had a longer and softer gliding action. It`s like you would use a rod with a more moderate action, the give of the whole setup makes the difference.

Location: Otsego, MN | Casting even 25 pound fluro is a pain at times. I flip with it for bass and it can be tricky, stay with the braid.
