| I have a 899 on the console. When I bought it the guy told me there was a unit I could link to put up front that would just show the GPS chart. The next employee I talked to told me that he must have misspoken because there such a thing. What I want is a cheaper unit up front I can look at while running the trolling motor that just shows the chart and way points. |

Location: Twin Cities | No such thing... They need to be ethernetable. You need a 800 series or better on the older models or Helix 9 or bigger on the new stuff. If you use map chips you could use say a Helix 5 up front and save all of the waypoints on MyHumminbird every once in a while to both chips.... |

| the unit I have is ethernetable at least that what it says in the manual. I have the 899ci HD SI. does that mean I could link it to any 800 series graph? |

Location: MN | You are able to link your 899 to any Ethernet capable unit. That includes 700, 800, 900, 1100 series units, Helix 9, 10, 12 and Onix 8 and 10.
The units will share waypoints, External GPS receivers and transducers. It will not however share LakeMaster/Navionics data over the network. Each unit will require it's own card.

| I guess because the only reason I wanted a gps up front is I have a cable drive troller and wanted to make sure Im hitting my gps way points. With I pilot I could just set a course and let the trolling motor do all the work. |

Since when are the 700 series ethernetable?
Since the HD units came out, I think four years ago. |

You said cable drive trolling motor--I'll advise you ahead of time that I-Pilot is only available on the electric steer motors (Power drive, Terrova, Ulterra and their saltwater counterparts)
