Has anyone had experience with the Ambassadeur or Ambassadeur alphmar line counters before?
Looking for a couple line counters and I get a deal on abu stuff.
Thanks

I have a couple in the 6500 size that I have used for years for downlining stripers down South. No problems at all. I switched to Okumas more recently. The Okumas have a bad rap IMO, but the stripers dont fight the same as musky.

I have always been happy with the Okumas. I think you will be as well.
I believe I have 10 magdas and 4 convectors, have been supremely happy with them for both muskies and salmon.

Take all the Okuma models apart. Do the same with the Abu's and lastly take a look at a Tekota. Try to avoid buyers remorse if you dont buy anything but the Tekota.
While the other reels might do an adequate job, the Tekota remains the best built $200 reel out there regardless of brand or reel type. Its a very solid package.

yah and I can buy 3 Convectors for 1 Tekota... I've had a fleet of Convectors on my sucker rods for many years... with lots of big fish well over 50" caught using them... not 1 has failed... easy choice for me is 4 Convectors for ~250 bux ...

yah... each their own suppose. Ive taken a few reels apart to clean and lube and the Tekota is worth the extra few $ but then again Im not runnin a fleet of them.
The dartanium drag washers on the Tekota should be upgraded...year or two depending on use and they may be compromised. Dont know why they keep using them when carbontex is a huge and inexpensive upgrade. I figure Mr Carbontex's daughter is butt ugly and Mr Shimano's son is screwing Mr Dartanium's daughter. Only way to rationalize it....yah.
