I fished Pelican from about 6:30 to dark yesterday. The water temps were 58 to 60, and the wind a stiff 15 or so NE, which is tough on that lake. Sue and I pitched Undertakers, Slammer Cranks, and Zams to no avail, not even a follow hitting the Flats first (beautiful weedline this year), then Muskie Bay, then Treacherous.

We had a great evening, and Slamr's rig runs great in 2' seas.

Was on Pelican on Saturday and Monday with much the same results as you Steve. Moved a few fish Saturday and lost a small one on a Slidin Shad. Monday was even worse with just a few overly ambitious hammer handles to break up the day. Will we ever get a wind from the West side of the compass this spring?

Pelican is starting to warm up and so are the muskies. Water temp is creeping into the high sixties on the west side of the lake. Cabbage growth is looking exceptional. Caught two on Topraiders (you gotta love topwater fish) in the last hour before dark Thursday. Both came off weedlines in about 8 foot of water. Moved a couple more fish in the weeds, and one on rocks.

Also heard of a couple big fish starting to go this last week. One of the fish was confirmed, a 49"er. Unfortunately we won't ever have another shot at that one as it was on ice when I heard about it.

Sue very nearly put her first really nice muskie in the net last night in Treacherous Bay, but the fish made it's last run right at  her, and slipped the Topper Stopper.

I had a low 50" fish hit an Undertaker on the Flats, and lost her on a head shake. That fish is in my crosshairs, now.

On the water last night. Water temps were right around 70. The fish were relating to cabbage weeds and it seemed like the smaller and more isolated the weeds were the better. One small patch of cabbage, probably less than an acre, on otherwise bals sand, held four different fish last night including a 40" that ate a TopRaider. I raised a good fish (reefhawg) on another small cabbage patch in Treacherous that was probably pushing 30#'s. Nothing out on the rocks last night but I didn't fish them hard when I found fish in cabbage.

Out on Pelican last night (June 26th). Southwest wind, overcast skies, 74 degree water temp, humid--almost perfect. Started moving fish in the weeds immediately. I decided to check the rocks to see if I could duplicate the action there, but nothing. I was really upset with myself after the fact because I wasted about 45 minutes in a two hour window (4:00-6:00) checking another pattern. Ended up boating a 40" losing one about 42-43 at boatside and moving 3 other fish in that two hour window. All the fish were on weedlines and chasing Top Raiders. Once the front came through it was game over and I never moved another fish the rest of the night.

Fished Pelican over the 4th weekend mostly in the evening, stayed up too late to fish in the morning. Thurs. nite the boy got a 43 3/4", he was pretty happy. Fri nite got skunked and Sat. nite lost a 34" at the boat. All the action was on crankbaits on the rocks. Only had one follow in the weeds. Action was pretty slow, but the boat traffic was really heavy over the weekend. Hopefully the next time will be during the week with less pressure. Lots of guys ski fish'n, usually had to wait for a place to open up so you could fish. Lots of people jumping in front and cutting you off. Especially the guys in the Crestliner- ran into them twice over the weekend and would cut in front within casting distance. Kinda takes the fun outa fish'n when ya gotta worry about people like that.

Have a good one

Fished Pelican over the weekend. The lake is really green now with the algae bloom. Could only see about 2'. Not much action with only 1 small fish seen. Didn't even have much action from the northerns. Haven't heard much in the way of reports lately.
