| So I have used phantom lures for years with great success, however the last two 7.5 softails I purchased have no glide whatsoever. The first one I just wrote off as a fluke until 2 weeks later I purchased another from a different store and in a different color pattern and had the same result. Have any of you experienced this? I would like to replace the a few old ones I have and am wondering if I should wait to see if this is a large scale issue. |

| I have noticed that I absolutely hate some leaders that I now have for these types of baits. It took me a while to realize that, and boy wAs I happy when I figured it out. Double check your leader if you have changed anything lately. If you change to a different phantom that works correctly idk what to tell you, but for me it was all leader. Now I have a new rod and reel for the different leaders in my box.... Efffff |

Location: Eastern Ontario | I had a 6 inch reef hawg that I named the dog turd ( sort of brown yellow and white ) . The lure had absolutely no built in action and was almost impossible to impart any action, the fish loved it although I could never figure out why. |

Location: North St. Paul, MN | I am a huge phantom fan. I have several 6" softails. I've tried the 7.5" softail with limited succes. One thing I've "tinkered" with just recently, was this: lighter gage, single strand leader. I went to 150lb (or so) and made my own. Reducing the hardware and lightening up on the wire really has them swinging even more than before.
Try that with the 7.5"? Good luck. |

Location: Scandia MN | Same problem - tried all of the above with many older lures verses the newer models - The newer ones either required much tweaking or just flat would not work - Hoping the maker's get this message and fix whatever the problem is - As an older guy I use these a lot and have a ever growing pile of defective units - Really like them and it's a to bad the quality control has become an issue. |

Location: NE Ohio | i bought three 7 1/2" softails from thorne bros. last spring and they work just fine on a 174# single strand wire leader and 6-9 jerk rod. one even has a threaded hole in the bottom to add extra weight if i'd want to. |

Location: Aurora | 90% of mine are wood but all of them seem to work, even on a straight retrieve they walk a little. Did you try straight reeling it back to the boat? |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I have a new one that won't glide as well. It was a show custom so I am out of luck for replacement. One from a few years ago works great and has had many sets of hooks cut on it. The new one just "humps" back to the boat. |
