Any suggestions on what a good bulldawg (magnum) rod is? Im thinking about a St Croix Premier PM86XHF extra heavy action 8.5 foot for lures up to 10 oz. and was also wondering if it could double for pulling a big Church tx44 inline board? Those have to be a bear getting in with a whimpy rod. Thanks much. BP

1 man's opinion but I have the Big Dawg and the Custom X 8'10" xxh and its not even close - the Custom X is by far the better rod for me. While the Big Dawg is good for mags and ok for pounders I was blown away by how easily the Custom X tosses pounders. My buddy got one too because he was getting frustrated with his "bangers" - big Dawg rods that go "BANG"! when they break tossing pounders

No doubt following the bang of the blank hitting the gunnel.
The PM86XHF is a good rod for mags and the occasional pounder. I think it's a bit too fast for the boards, though.

Tooth tamer 9ft xxxh is awesome, and very affordable. I also use the bulldawg 9ft "big dawg", that thing has tons of power in the backing, I can throw pounders quite effortlessly
