Sorry for bringing up again but each year I usually do...

Are there any current or future plans to build a Tuffy X series in a 17 or 18 foot? A slightly smaller version of the x-190... I envision something like the old Ranger 681/618VS side console. 17'-6" to 18' in length, 84-88 inch beam, great front/rear casting decks but able to troll occasionally too.

I know other projects have taken precedence in recent years and I'm sure for good reason. But I still believe there is a need for a good mid-sized multi-species platform out there. Fits in garages, tows with V-6, easier on the wallet, but still does muskie, bass, walleye, etc very well...

You just described the 1760G Series.

Yes and no...

I think if you put a 1760G and 681/618 VS side by side you'd see some differences. 618 being a little lower profile, faster hull, maybe less draft, wider side tank to lay rods out w/o gas fill, etc.

Granted, there are some similarities. Maybe not different enough to justify cost of another model especially if they cover some of the same market. I get it, you don't want two models to overlap/cannibalize. I see enough differences though but realize I may be in the minority here... had to ask anyway ~

In reading the boat forum of late, have to admit I'm very impressed with the new Lund ProV Bass and the x-190. One glass, one aluminum, but I'm a fan of that general type of platform. Two problems for me though, A) I don't know that I need/want something quite that big, and B) Sticker shock. 3 kids in college, single income, do I really want to pay $40k+ for a rig right now?

That's where maybe a 17-18' version of the x-190 might become appealing. I could look for a used 681/618 but frankly many would need work, upgrades, motor, trailer, electrical, etc. I can do it but a nice new x-179 might do the trick. Or if Ranger offers the 175t in a side console. Better price than an x-190 and all new under warranty, etc..

"(what if you could buy that boat with a removable side tank?)"

Sorry, didn't see your question imbedded in the reply until now. Can you provide more detail on "removable side tank?" Do you mean a side tank/storage locker running the port side of the boat, or do you mean a removable fuel tank thus eliminating the gas fill along the side of the 1760?

Side tank storage on the port side.

Is there a removable option? Happy to consider/take a look if you have info or photos. Thx..
