I'm sure everyone sometime thought this at one point or another, so if i'm investing hundreds in reels, how do I take care of them??

I'm not trying to discourage people from sending reels in at the end of the season, I always send mine in to be checked and fixed up! I'm wondering though during the season, how do I lubricate and make sure my reels are working properly? Where do I grease and were do I oil? Do I need to ever service the drag??

Seeing as the Revo Nacl is one of the most popular models these days, if someone could even just show where to grease, oil, or anything that would be appreciated!!!!

Thanks for the help!

If it were me asking this question I'd contact the reels' manufacturer first and then....Pikemaster (Richard) if they didn't give you what you needed.

If you go to Alan Tani's reel repair forum I have a complete tutorial on how to take care of your Revo Nacl there and many, many other reels are covered there.

Basically it's a drop of oil on bearings and greas lightly gears. I clean and lightly grease the level wind screw.

Also ABU runs their carbontex drag washers dry, but I like a bit of drag grease on them. Only Cals or Shimano drag grease, not regular bearing grease.

Grease the backplate, release mechanism, gears, and the bearing under the drive shaft retainer. I grease the level wind on my reels, but I keep them in reel covers to keep them clean. If your reels will be in the garage where you grind, cut wood, or weld, oil the level wind. Dirt clings to grease too easily so I like to keep all of my reels covered. I also grease the bearing under the cast control knob. Oil the spool bearings every day on the water and more than that of it rains. This will save you a lot of headaches. Get a good syringe and use it to apply the grease.

FYI: Don't over oil a bearing, just 1 or 2 small drops of oil
and a very light coat of grease on the gears.
Carbontex Drag Washers a very light coat of Cal's Drag Grease, DO NOT USE GEAR GREASE ON DRAG WASHERS !!!!!!!!

Or send them to me at end of season, I'll also be at all the Musky Shows to pickup or drop off reels in 2016.
