Any of you guys had a chance to try it out. Wish they made them longer but they make 8'6" which is rated up to a pound. Price isnt too high either. Just curious if anyone has one and what is your opinion. Plus if anyone knows what is the lenght of the handle, its not specified on Abu website. Thx

Yes, excellent rod for the price, a couple other threads around on this topic. From fore grip to butt is 24", from grip where you palm the reel 18".

Thx Steve. Does it do well with dbl10s and magdawgs(8'6"), or the heavy action(8') is more suited for those lures. I dont throw pounders that much and looking for the rod mainly for those applications and would like something longer than 8'.

I hadn't heard of the Toro until now, but love my Veritas 7'11" XH Winch for double 8s and smaller.

Thanks a bunch for bringing them to my attention... now I'll have to buy ANOTHER rod!

For 'all around' if big stuff may be on the menu we use the 8'6" Fast XH Veritas matched with a S 60. 50# to 100# line, and 6 to 16 ounce lures. The 8' H is 4 to 10 ounce lures, and matches really well with a S 50. I like that one quite a bit, tosses 10s OK, too. We've been fishing the Veritas rds since last Summer on the 50 S models, and put them through the paces. Good rods.

Steve while you're on the topic have you had a chance to measure the butt length on the beast rods? Are they all the same length or do they vary based on rod length?

I know the 8' and 8'6" are the same.

which rod would be best for casting 2oz-3oz spoons? would the length of 8'6'' xh give more distance than the lighter 8' and 7'9'' rods

I'd use the medium action rod for spoons.
