The camp is full and overflow taken care of, and a few fish have cooperated. I'm just in from Andy Myers Lodge, and am about to hit the water now. A full report of action so far will follow tonight!

The fire down in the commons has been prepared for tonight.

How'd it go on Eagle for muskies? I heard the fish have been scattered all over with the warmer than normal conditions. Hope you did well. I leave tomorrow for the week.
Thanks

It's a classically beautiful day on vermilion, and reports are the fishing has picked up.

Form Doug Jones, a 45.75" muskie from the morning:

Fishing was quiet yesterday, with a couple pike up to 37 and one muskie at 45.75. Looks like it may improve today if the big winds forecast earlier in the week don't show up.

Dinner and awards are at 7:30 tonight.

A group of four/five of us spent a week on the east end with one 45.5" to show for 200 plus hours on the water combined... We moved a few big fish, but nothing cooperated like we anticipated. We threw big rubber, blades, jerkbaits, top water, everything... Trolling didn't produce either as baitfish was scattered. Hopefully with the new moon, things will pick up!

A few of us went up early and got 3 before the outing, only 1 was caught during outing. Many nice pike were caught. Water temps need to drop more to get the musky going. Bill

Won the Pike and the Muskie division. DMJones dominated!

Good trip with good company and good fishing, just the catching was tough. Crazy weather this Fall had the bite off. Tremendous hospitality as usual at Spring Bay, and the fire burned late each night.

Joe did a great job at the dinner last night, big thanks to him, Steve, and all the folks at Spring Bay!

Thanks also to everyone who attended, and the good libations around the fire. Good friends are made on this outing, and next year is already anticipated.

Rudy and Ryan were missed. Show up next year, boys.

DMJones was extremely lucky. My son and fishing partner gave me a day of guiding from Steve Amundson during the summer outing and he really helped hone my jerk bait technique. I just happened to throw a bait in front of the one musky in the mood to eat and she inhaled it. The pike was caught about 100 yards farther up the shore.

As usual Spring Bay put on a great outing and are outstanding hosts. Thanks to Muskie First for sponsoring and providing raffle prizes. One of our group was 17 and he got his first Musky lure at the dinner and was very excited.

Thanks to my son Colin for his help and efforts to educate me. We will be back next year and hope they are in a better mood to eat. The outing should not be missed.

I went this year for the first time, and really enjoyed myself. Everyone was really friendly and made me feel welcome. A special thanks to the crew from Illinois and the hospitality they showed, sharing their cabin with me. I really enjoyed their company. The only thing that would have made it better, is if the fish would have opened their mouths a little bit. Will make a serious effort to get back there next year. Bryan

Partly Cloudy, your information is incorrect. Several fish were caught at our outing and the largest thru Saturday was a fat 51.

Thru Saturday there were 8 caught and historically sunday has been a great day (had to leave early). Most fish were in the mid 40's.

Happy Friday,

I finished a short video from the outing. There are some pictures of the beautiful resort on the 2 minute video along with some of the faces that were there. The video is on my website, you can access my site by clicking on my name. I also will be sending Steve Worrall a copy of my newspaper article shortly.

Have a great weekend. - Jim Furley

Thanks Louie. One face not on the video is Christian Laettner, sounds like he arrived after we all left. He probably heard we're a rough crowd.
