Problem with any shipping tube over 108" is that the cost for UPS, DHL, FedEx, etc. A 9' rod that cost $24 to ship with FedEx goes to $80 shipping once it goes over 108" in length. They really ding you for shipping those long tubes... |

Location: Wisconsin | I have been fishing with the XH and XXH 10'6" rods all year. All i have to say is wow. I have not had any problems netting a fish when Im by myself. There is a learning curve with the use of the rod. You can start your figure 8 sooner and run it deeper. Which helps with not spooking the fish with your boat. The extra lengh makes it a dream to cast and setting the hook involves easy effert. And wont last long. Cant wait to sell them at the shows next year.

-----
No split grips this year. If the rods sell well we will add a split grip option. Just have too many rods right now They take up a TON of room in my warehouses and they are hard to move around. Got long forks now which helps!!
As for the actions, yes, they are very close. We spent about 18 months on these new roes to get them right. At first they were either way to stiff or the tips had way too much flex. Took a while to dial them in but they are great now!!
Thanks,
James

| The 10'6" xxh is my go to big bucktail rod. I've had mine for a few months now and can't put it down when it's time to throw blades. It handles anything from 8's up to 13's with no problem. Figure 8's are awesome! Netting fish solo is a little tricky the first few times, but it's better than not netting one! |

I had a 9 ft XH and now have a 9 1/2 ft XH. The 9 1/2 foot feels a little stiffer due to being slightly faster action. |

I am looking at selling my slingblade and getting a10'6" to replace it.
How does the xh 10'6" compare to the slingblade??? |

The new rods are very similar in action. They all do tend to have just a little more flex at the tip end but we had to do this so the rods will load up in an even way over the total length of the rod. The longer the rod the hard er it is to perfect unless you just want to make a 10'6" broom stick and that is easy Took a while to get these dialed in but it was worth it!!

Location: Hayward, WI | So with a little more flex at the tip, is the XXH the standard choice for double 10's over the XH?
In the 9 footers I have XH and XXH. I find both work well for bucktails, but if the XH had any more flex in the tip might be just a little on the light side for doing wide 8's all day. |

| James,
Any plans for a 10' or 10'6" 2 piece rod? Even with telescoping the new ones would be tough to manage in my small boat. A 2 piece would be an easy sell for at least one of me.... |

As for 2pc rods, it would be some time before I made the long rods into a 2pc configuration. Just too many rods already now that I am moving into bass, walleye, crappie and inshore rods. I do see a new longer pole barn in my future though |

I have been looking at this reel seat. Seems its a YES or NO for customers. About 20% of the people I have asked like them and the rest don't. Once these are out a little longer and if I see a trend with a specific use rod that uses the palm reel seat I may make a special edition rod with it. |

He should have them at all the shows he will attend. If he has them left by Minnesota I will pick them up So don't buy them! ha ha Technically they are not for sale but I told him to sell them if anyone wanted one. LOL I have no time to fish...

What is the length from rod tip to reel seat?
The handles are 18" long and the reel seat is about 6" in length so take the length of rod you are looking at and subtract 24" from the total length and that is the length to the tip form top of the reel seat.
For storage, all TI telescopic rods telescope in 18" for transportation and storage. thanks

Location: Wausau, WI | Finally was able to test out my rods. I built these on the 10'6" XH blanks. I used a split grip/surf rod handle design with a 22" butt section (from rod butt to rear of reel seat.) I've only used them for a few hours but my casting distance is better than ever and like others have mentioned the figure 8's are great. So far I'm very impressed.

| James, how does the 9'6" XH tip compare to the 9'6" XH Compre? Is it just as stiff/fast? Looking for a go to rod for double 8's and small med-large cranks. I like a faster tip for a general purpose rod. I use my St.Croix Big Dawg for my larger applications like Double 10's, large cranks/Jerks etc... |

Sorry but I have not held one of the 9'6" XH Compre rods yet. The new TI long tele rods are very very close in action to the current MH, XH and XXH actions on the current TI rods. We really tried to get those matched up well so everyone who uses the TI rods will know exactly what they are getting but of course just longer... From the tip down these are really close and then the butt end of the blanks was build onto to make them longer. We did have to reinforce and use different material to make the blanks stronger as the longer you go it exponential for the torque on the rod. So far so good If you go to a musky show and want to take a look at my rods feel free to stop by the booth. |

| I can't say enough good things about the 10'6" xxh!! It continues to shine and perform far greater than I expected. Lately I've been throwing big swim baits with it and it bombs them way out allowing me to cover a ton of water in a short period of time with the TranX pg. I stuck another one in the figure eight last night that was way out on the turn of a huge eight that just isn't possible with a shorter rod. Again, a great product at a great price!! I'll try to post some pictures of the ones I've built soon... |

Just remember to not go too deep on a fig 8 Just had a customer break a tip on his new 10'6". He forgot how long the rod was and hit bottom in about 7'-8' of water. What a rod! |

| I put mine inside in the winter. I leave them in the boat until season is over though. I'm not sure if going from a heated shop to the cold and back is good for the blank material with respect to expansion and contraction, especially when applying the load of a pounder or other big bait that is typical of fall fishing. Maybe I'm overthinking it... |

Location: Smith Creek | Going from cold to hot could cause issues if the blank is fully extended, I would retract the blank after use in the cold, or you may not be able to retract it again till you get it down to the temp it was at previously.

| I ended up using a size 22 and had to ream them a little. There's actually a little spot on the blanks ahead of the seat that's bigger around than where the seat is mounted... I found that a little odd. What seats do you use? |
