How often do you guys change the oil on the Ranger Hubs (post 2008 manufactured) ?
Years back, on my older Ranger 520 and 518, I used to change it quite often, but Ranger changed their specs allowing for much longer duration between changes.

Not sure what it is now for my 620....but I bet I have not changed it in 4+ years. No issues, just trying to stay ahead of the problem.

Thanks

I've heard anything shorter than 4 years is a waste of time. ( from a certified Ranger mechanic)...In the past I would go every other year for no reason other than peace of mind. My current boat is a 2012 and hasn't had it since since it was new

In '97 when I bought my 681VS my dealer asked how old I was when I asked that question. Told him "47". He said I didn't have enough years left to worry about it!

Do yours have the clear/see through end caps? Is the oil still 'clear' or is it milky looking? Milky is still okay(2 drops of water will turn the hub oil milky), but it shouldn't be 'chunky'. I would adhere to the 3-4 year rule, though mine normally show some color after a couple seasons of hard use so I change it. I changed the seals/hub liner/all o-rings last season on the side that gave me the most grief, and no worries to date. One thing I did was go back to the Ranger recomended inner seal, which is much more substantial/thicker walled than the Napa seal that was in it.

If you do change it, put a bit of red silicon on the threads of the allen screw before putting it back in. Ensures a seal, and helps in removal next time.
