Since I am turning 50 here in a few days, I was really working at catching a 50 incher for my birthday. Got close this evening. Caught and released my new personal best. A 49.125 inch beautiful fish!
Beautiful to me anyway. Got it on my GoPro camera also.
I've only got about 4 more days if I'm going to get a 50 for my birthday...

Get it on that spinning rod? Bet that gave the 50 year old forearm a work out. Happy b-day!

Great fish! Statistically speaking, that fish is a lot more rare than a 50 incher

Very nice!

Hope you don't get your heart set on a 59.125 when you turn 60!

If it were me, I'd ditch the tape measure and the orange pliers too. Then do what I do: Simply say, "Yeah that looks like about 51 or so." Be sure to only fish with partners who are likely to say, "Yeah, maybe even 52?" and you will avoid a lot of heartache. It's sort of like the formula where you multiply length times girth to achieve weight, only far more accurate. Just take the number of fifties a guy says he caught and divide by two for the real number. If he's always online yapping with a lot of posts, divide by three. If he writes articles telling other people how to catch'em like he does...divide by six. It's not new or from Popeil...but it really, really works!
