I'm going to be heading up to Lake of the Woods in a few days and wanted to try muskie fishing for the first time.

I've currently got a 6.5 ft MH baitcaster with a lure wt rating of 1/4 oz to 1 oz (i know its not ideal, but I won't be getting another rod in time). It is perfect for bucktails, and other similarly weighted lures for when I catch pike in the summer, but I've heard that when it comes to fall muskie the bigger the better.

I was wondering if there are effective fall lures that would be appropriate for this set up.

Thanks.

Six and seven inch minnow baits and medium diving crank baits. Perch, firetiger. Don't have to go large in size to have action from even big fish. Make bottom contact with rocks. Good luck. Tom
