Jigging is something I want to start doing more and more this season...since the opener is this saturday FINALLY, I'm not set up with the proper jig stuff, what I do have are plenty of Tiger tubes.

Although these are lighter and won't get to the bottom as easily, if you were trying to cover the middle half of the water column is say 10-15' of water, could you just reel/reel/pause and swim them through the water column as efectice as jigs??

thx much...may all us N.Wisconsonites stick pigs come this saturday!!!!!!

Greg -

Go to the search forums section and search for "Tiger Tubes". There have been some excellent threads on here in the past on this topic. One in particular was titled "Tube Baits" I believe. Check it out.

Sorry sir, was on the road!

The tube baits lend themselves nicely to swimming, just count them down to where you want them, and reel with the rod pointed at the bait three times, then count them down to the previous depth. Will make you crazy counting at first, but soon becomes second nature.

To calculate how far the bait rises with three turns of the handle, cast the lure to a known depth, count it down half way, reel three times, and count it down to the bottom. If the depth is 9', and you count it down a 4 count to about 4 feet, then reel and it counts down 7 to the bottom, the bait rises two feet with three turns of the handle from about 4 feet.

I have not fished much with the Tiger Tubes Greg. I prefer to swim my jig rather than add another bunch of expensive items. I would also think that a Bull Dawg would work at these depths and speeds but don't know for sure. I am going to try some suspending crankbaits this year myself. Trying to trigger some of those mid depth fish. I have tried the Tiger Tubes but do not have much experience yet. I am going to try some with lighter weight as I would like to try a tube with a very slow fall. Will let you know if it works or not. C ya on the water soon I hope.
