I like trying to correlate good bites/windows to perceivable weather/solunar/seasonal things, even though many times muskies prove the rules to be wrong. So I thought it would be interesting to examine any REALLY GOOD windows you guys have experienced this year, if you're willing to share.

I don't want to know where you were specifically, but you could share the general region if you'd like.

I'll start with a couple:
7/31/15 from 3:00 pm til sunset (6 hours) in north-central MN, 6 fish tried to eat, a few other follows, 5 hooked, 3 landed. A very long window. On this day there were no profound weather changes or barometric instability, but strong winds, and it was full moon day.

8/18/15 from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm in NE MN, 5 fish hooked, 4 landed, many other hot follows. long (4-hour) "window", but 4 of the 5 fish hooked were in the last 2 hours. No notable solunar influence, but had classic pre-frontal conditions. Degrading weather, overcast, moderate winds, falling barometer, and eventual rain storms.

When did you see them go nuts?

July. Felt like a thunder storm would hit all day. Dark, humid, overcast and muggy.
Fish went berserk all day. Landed 16 on a kAwartha lake fishing alone. Was crazy.

September. First big cool down and nasty weather. Fish went nuts all weekend.

This summer. Never had one day when they were moving. Didn't fish enough either.

Location: Wisconsin
About 5 weeks ago, new moon. North central Wi. About 6 hrs of fishing, and 1 hour prior to a huge cold front we raised 9 and caught 3 all in a span of 45 minutes. Then all of a sudden we didn't see anything. Crazy how that happens!!!

Late June moved two fish in 100 yards went across the lake got a 50" went back to were the two moved caught one and rode the struggle bus on 15 more in a half hour every other cast a different size musky was hot but I struggled 5 of them trying to eat but I failed. Now the weather was steady warming for a week and I believe it was moon rise at 2 and that was when I went back to that 100 yards. It was this experience and last fall when I changed how I feel about muskies schooling up. I think they do it a lot and after getting them moving and changing my presentation I get them in the same hour were I say them. Last week I got one and 50 minutes later same spot my dad got one stable weather breezy.

Location: MN
Late August Full Moon. My buddy and I caught 4 fish in an hour right after moonrise/sundown including two 50's on a tiny spot. The 50's were laying within feet of each other right on the spot on the spot. The spot had literally got pounded all day. Several different boats doing laps on the spot throughout the day so I'm guessing they moved the fish we caught. We pulled in right as a boat was leaving. Nothing special with the weather. We just hit the window from the moon.

That same full moon has been good to me in past years on other water including multiple fish days and 50's. The sunset right at moonrise really seems to get them going.

We found a new spot this year and it seemed like the fish went bonkers on crappy fishing conditions and when the weather seemed perfect the bite was dead. Had a few 4 fish days in high bluebird skies and no wind. Weird fish.

Great stories, but I was hoping for dates and times to look at weather and exact solunar times for that locale.

Jesse, you need to fish more and stop entering all your information into Excel spreadsheets. Muskies eat when they want to. If I have the day off, and can get on the water, I'm going to be fishing. I've had way too many days, on prime water, when the fish should have been going and they didnt.

But....like we chatted about earlier this year, I'll take a falling barometer and wind. Those are the only 2 factors I've noticed over 13 yrs of musky fishing that I have caught more fish. Moon set/rise etc has done nothing for me personally. Local weather patterns, absolutely, but not enough to dictate when I'm on the water.

Pat, I do fish whenever I can, and sometimes when I shouldn't. But I like to have a decent guess about their activity levels and possible locations as I'm heading out, based on past experiences in similar conditions. Info in my records has no influence on whether or not I'll actually go out. If I'm free to go, I go. I just like seeing trends and stuff after the fact.

Started this thread on a boring Friday ahead of the weekend when I knew I would be land-locked.

I hear you there, I'm just razzing you a bit. If anyone can build a statistical probability model that predicts the best time to catch a fish, it's going to be you. And I'll be the first one to buy it!!!!
