Well another PMTT on the CAVE has come and gone.....and again I have been shut out....But thats muskie fishing. We had a good turn out and for 2 days it rained and rained. In fact, Sunday it never stopped during tournament hours. As I and other muskie anglers on the gave perdicted a troll bite would land most of the fish, we were dead wrong. Only 5 fish were taken trolling of the 24 caught, in seemed the trollers who caught fish had just the one hit. Some of the best trollers out there went rip-less during the event. My hat is off to Quinn and Weigner for finding 3 active muskies. I was in the right areas as I seen four on the fish caught during the tournament but was only able to raise 2 lazy lookers each day on the Hang Ten Manta.
Trollers pounded the flats and as little luck took place there they seemed to move to deeper water only to find a very slow bite. Casters threw everything from tiny bass baits to large manly size muskie baits, from deep edges to shallow shoreline with very little success in raising fish. The fish were packed in the weeds but seemed to be buried in them and had NO desire to eat our offerings.
Eagle River is up next for the PMTT and as for me, my guiding starts in Wisconsin. next week.
