The Consolidated Musky Club Inc. held our annual fall chili feed last night at Cera park on the Wisconsin River. We had several raffles including a memorial raffle for longtime member Ray Kittell. We ordered 500 10-13" fingerlings, which will find a new home in Petenwell flowage tomorrow. The plan had originally been to stock down on the main lake. However with the warm temps this week and associated bloom in the bay we intended to stock, we decided to move the process into the channel. The effort will be in memory of Ray, with a sign eventually placed at the freeman landing in nekoosa, WI.

Thank you to all members who helped make this stocking a success, and to all who plan on helping out tomorrow.

As someone who grew up in Wis. Rapids in the 50s and 60s, it great to see that folks are now taking care of the river and using it to fish and recreate. Back then it was an open sewer for municipal and industrial waste. We caught huge carp but game fish were few and far between and even if present you couldn't have eaten them. I used to hunt ducks on the backwaters off the flowage in the late 1960s, early 1970s and if you shot a mallard that had summered there, just cooking it would make your house smell like sulfur, just like the Nekoosa mill did back then.

Congratulations to your group.

Great Job ! I have been fishing Petenwell Flowage for almost 30 years now and have a camper at Devils Elbow. In my opinion this fishery continues to get better and better year after year, especially since most of the paper mills have shut down.
