So thinking about upgrading to a new Musky rig next season....

Want to keep it at about 40K give or take.....Hopefully have a nice chunk of cash to put down after selling the old boat.....

What would you buy in that price range?

Leaning toward a new Skeeter MX 1825 with the 200HP four stroke Yamaha....

But have lots of time to think about it before next season....

Without having researched boats in that price range too much, I'd look hard at a Tuffy 1890. I think they must be in about that price range with the motor you're looking at.

I think the Skeeter would do you well too, but I like the longer front deck in the Tuffy, and if you've never seen the ROOM in an 1890, you owe it to yourself to take a look. I have a 1760 and it's really roomy inside considering the dimensions of the boat.

lots of options.. if you want something newer you could look at:
Ranger 1880s, Tuffy 1890s, Recon 985s (saw 1 in mint condition selling for 34k on c list), Skeeters.
A bit older you could get into a 619/620
happy shopping!

You said you were going to finance some, loan interest rates from banks are lower for a new boat vs used.

Ive been fishing out of a MX 1825 since 2012. For the money can't beat a skeeter but I 'm bias. Great rod storage smooth ride. Give the guy 's at skeeter boat center and talk to them . The difference be tween the 150 and the 200 is not very much .the mx was built for the 150 for the money I would go with the 150 and spend the money on better electronics.

If you decide to go with the MX I agree with the above post, stick with the 150 4 stroke and put the extra money into electronics or rigging. Its a 50 mph boat (49.6) with the 150.

I also have a MX 1825 with 150 4-stroke, and I highly recommend them.
With the 150 expect about 46-49 depending on load. With the 200 4-stroke they get about 50-53 and with the 200 2-stroke they get about 57 mph.
I have the walk thru windshield and I like it, but it does get in the way if you like having a lot of rods out.

My only dislike about the MX1825 is that the front deck is pretty small compared to say a Tuffy x190. If you plan to fish only 2 out of the boat, i'm sure the 1825 will work great.

No matter what anyone tells you it will come down what you like. I purchased a new boat last year and went with the Skeeter WX 1850 for various reasons that i wont get into. I looked at Skeeter, Tuffy and Rangers which all offer nice options in fiberglass boats.

I will tell you one thing, i love the Skeeter and most importantly, the service level at Skeeter boat center (Ramsey) is second to none! When making that kind of investment make sure you buy from a dealer that has a good track record.

That's about what I am looking to spend and my #1 choice is an X-190 Esox and I'm a big water bass guy that wants to fish little lakes at time as well. If I were a musky guy I would also check out th 1890. You might want to also check out the 2016 Lund Pro-V Bass. Not sure if it will have a 50" livewell but it looked awesome from the couple pictures I saw.

Can you explain this a little more? What have you needed the dealer do for you after you bought the boat? Are you talking about rigging or adjustments? Yearly maintenance? I have never bought a new boat and just wonder what you need the dealer for after the purchase unless something is wrong with the boat. I have only bought used from private owners and was always on my own after the purchase. I might be buying from a dealer quite a distance from me. Thanks.

I bought my boat in. Chippewa Falls Wisconsin I live in the Twin Cities. When they installed the side rails they nicked a wire so when I hit the trim on the side of the motor it turned over.i called them in the morning they came picked it up brought it back fixed it turned around and brought it back to me the same day that's service. 2 years latter I noticed tires were wearing funny brought it to the Ramsey store And they fixed that .after talking to me all winter a buyer where I work bought a 1825 mx he said he had great service and is very happy with the service they gave him.

I myself was just shopping for boats this last winter and was looking at Ranger, Tuffy, Skeeter, and Recon. This is what I learned. Both the Ranger 1880 and 619 cannot store rods over 8' and are both over 40k. The Tuffy 1890 and x-190 can fit 9' rods but again both are over 40k with options and a 200 hp. Also my local "Tuffy" dealer was a joke and obviously didn't take me seriously about buying even though I bought my last boat from them. The Recon is huge and can store 9' rods too but was closer to 50k when I inquired. The Skeeter MX can store whatever size rod you have and actually the whole boat is full of storage. The front deck is smaller than say a Tuffy, but with a single console you can fish 3 no problem. With a dual console you could do it, but it'd be tight. I ended up buying the single console MX1825 with a 150 4stoke and like mentioned it performs great. The boat was actually designed for that motor. I also dealt with the guys at The Skeeter Boat Center and agree they are awesome and helped me with all my questions and even brought one inside this last winter for me to play around in. I ended up finding a deal elsewhere that was too good to pass up and they even called me back to congratulate me and offer any assistance in setting it up or help in any way - that's cool. All of those models are really nice and trust me you'll be happy with any one of them, you just have to decide which features are the most important to you and go from there.
Good luck shopping - Dan

That was the top of my price range and I went with a Tuffy 1760 GC. With everything I wanted on the boast is came in under your target range by a few thousand. I've purchased my last two boats from Boulder Marine in Boulder Junction and pleased with the level of service.
