| Anyone know anything about this? Was just tweeted out by Pete Maina. Not much detail beside age of angler and length of fish.

Anyone know where in Canada? |

Location: Minnetonka | That head is absolutely massive! Excited to learn more about it. Curious to hear how they measured it. Looks like a lot of walleye gear in the boat, which usually adds a few inches. Don't mean to neigh say, but like BNelson said, why not show the measurement on a fish with a bold claim. Impressive nonetheless! |

Location: varies | Forget the $70k Ranger, tranx on ten rods, 12" super electronics and a deck sized case of baits. All you need is an AARP card and a basic tin boat! Those old timers catch em big with style!
Hats off to them. |

The young guys will argue with that as the testosterone and beer peaks the intellectual capacity, but eventually...they will be old guys and it will be their turn.

Are you serious? Yes, two guys in their 70s drug a repo out in a tin boat to stage a picture so they could impress all their buddies on the internet and FB. Why cant a guy just catch a big fish without all the BS comments from people and the scrutiny of every inch of the fish.
Congrats to the old timer, fish of a lifetime!

Location: oswego, il | Looks like a chain saw wood carving to me. That boat isn't tin either, state of the art aloooo-minium! People bring chain saw wood carvings in the boat for photo ops all the time. Sometimes they bring a log and the saw with them to tailor the carving to what they are fishing for. I suppose it would be messy making a 10" bluegill out of a 60" log but they do it!

also finger painted with crushed berries and various animal droppings collected in the forest for super realism. |

I do think and hope it is real. I am happy for the fisherman. I am not calling him out or calling him a liar, just showing some skepticism for something that is a re-post from a facebook page with no story etc. to go along with it. I am in the habit of taking a skeptical look at most things on the internet, especially facebook (just my policy). Rodbender was able to point out something I didn't see though, which is a welcome response. I do not mean the fisherman any disrespect and I would love to hear the story them sometime. |

Location: Contrarian Island | yes, it makes no difference to some degree, if it's 57 or 60..but has there actually been a verified 60"er ever? Maybe Larry Ramsell can chime in...60 to me and many others is the stuff folk lore legends are made of... just once I want to see a so called 60 incher on a bump board...not doubting it is or isn't but 60 is just so out there for a length that if someone is going to say it's 60 then prove it... congrats to the angler regardless... |

Location: Iowa | Its real easy for us all to sit behind our computers and try and find any reason the fish wasn't as big as they are claiming, whether is was 55" or 57" or 60"...who cares (to me it just seems like jealousy and she can be an evil b!tch sometimes), this guy was out fishing at 84 years old still pursuing his passion and caught a fish of a lifetime he wanted to share...I can only hope I will still be able to muskie fish at that age...for once just congratulate someone on a hell of a fish regardless of the "story"...I get so sick sometimes of watching the posts after a big fish is caught its almost disgusting. Get out there and fish yourself instead of sitting behind your computer challenging everything you see. Congrats to the angler for catching such a big fish and continuing to pursue your passion as long as you can! Just my 2 cents worth!

Location: oswego, il | It never takes long for these threads to go south. The fish wasn't entered into a contest, won nothing, we don't know how it was measured. We can all agree it is a beast and an accomplishment. We can't leave it at that. Speculating it could be a mount brought out into the lake for a fake photo is a first. My god. Any time people post up a picture of a big fish, the rest of the content is thinking optional.

Brad, one other 60" from back in the day from MN caught by a Halvorson if I'm not mistaken, comes to mind. Larry could chime in, but please, on a separate thread. I'd like to see this one remain dedicated to this fish.
One thing that hasn't been commented on much is how beatiful/clean this fish is. My guess is neither LOTW or Lac Seaul, but doesn't matter. Great photo of an even greater fish. Would love to hear the story first hand, over a few cans of Old Style some night. The beers are on me.

Nice post Hawg. The issue of the fish being so healthy and clean looking also hit me altho I didn't post in the thread. It's gone enough out of the way as it is.
Wonderfully healthy looking monster of a musky. Imagine what that bugger must've looked like in the water, coming in....man!!!!
Congrats. to the gent who took her.

| What I was told is the older gentleman is Glenn. He owns the gas station/ store Glenn's in Luverne Minnesota. Was walleye fishing on a fly in lake in Canada when he hooked into this fish. 57 inches. A quick photo and then released.
I saw this picture etc. on Monday morning and got that story. If it is wrong I apologize but that's what I was told before it was posted here. We all know how fish stories are and I don't personally know the guy. |

| I'll wait til the photo is analyzed by the muskie god and he tells me the truth about how big it was really was . His family has to be interviewed , the lodge owner may comment , The camera inspected , the width of the boat , how they measured it , and on and on and on . |

| i doubt it was bigger in weight. The sides of that fish were like a wall and the 84 year old angler aspect is just cool.

Location: Uxbridge Ontario | This is clearly a super tankers. It is bigger in mass and length than most pictures you ever see. There is little in my mind that makes me not think that thing is 60". Some want to 60" fish to be an unattainable scale of measure I think... or at least sounds like it. First thing I thought when I saw that fish was cedar or Lac Seaul.
It is always a shame that it seems these huge huge fish are caught by walleye fisherman having no way to measure or having no inclination to prove it (ie a pic on a bump board or tape measure pic.

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | A true giant, even if all the doubter's have thier say. The photo is enough evidence for me. Congrat's on a great fish and even releasing her. It's no more spectacular if she was caught on a 18" lure or 3/8 oz. jig, the later would be much more difficult. Its something the the two of them will remember forever! Fish of this caliber leave memories, some sad, some glad! Great job to both the angler and his netman/helper!
Are you jealous? I am, like Bob M. and a select few, I've been on the sad side of the story. Although, it keeps you in the game! "Oh really, that big?" LOL!
