| My wife and I are spending a week up there the end of September first of October , this will be our first time there and was hoping for some pointers ... Lodging, area to start hunting , even what to expect from the weather , air temp , does the lake get too rough for a 18' bass boat ? we live 45 minutes from cave run lake in eastern ky and fish there several times a year ( cast from daylight till dark ) we've never fished on big water so anything you would share with us would be greatly appreciated |

Where to fish? that's a tough question to answer
should you be worried about your 18 foot bass boat? On many days, yes it's going to be tough

Location: Lake St Clair | Just a few things off the top of my head
the wind blows in the fall - if it is an east wind it could get pretty bad out there, this applies if you are fishing the US side.
The fish are more shallow in the fall, mouths of the rivers and channels
I like to throw mostly blades and dawgs at this time
Now im no pro but this is what ive learned over the last couple of years.

| Recently fished Big Bay Vermilion on consecutive windy days out of a 18' ranger bass boat, after those 3 days I realized I made the wrong decision in my boat purchase this past winter. Definitely going deeper V glass boat next time around. just be prepared to get soaking wet, I never thought I was going to capsize or anything like that but we definitely got wet. |

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I've made about 4-5 trips to Clair.....One thing I have learned, you are almost better off not making any official plans until you can see a weather report. Any winds at about 15 MPH or over can end your day pretty quickly, or make things very tough to fish in. Unlike other lakes, there's really not a lot of good hiding options unless you want to consider the Detroit River one...As the other poster said, the Fall can be very unpredictable when it comes to winds. |

Location: oswego, il | Keep your launching options open based on the wind if they are strong. You can launch on the lee side and be ok. Fish relate to bait. Windy side not always the best. Use caution on the river if the wind is blowing completely opposite the current, your in for waves as high as 5ft! |
