I bought a Tooth Tamer xxxl rod this winter. I really like to rod. I have been using it for throwing mag dawgs, medussas and pounders with it. I also have used it for throwing bigger bucktails with it and really liked how it handles them. I have some people tell me that it is to much rod for using with bucktails . they said that there isn't much give in the rod so I wont get a good hook set with it. then I asked them if I would get a good hook set with it throwing pounders and mag dawgs and then they didn't have a answer for me. so is there other guys out there that use bigger rods for bucktails or is this going to be a problem for me. Or should I look at getting a different rod for bucktials.

You really like it for everything you're throwing.
Doesn't sound like a problem at all unless you keep listening to "some people"

What works for one does not work for others. If it is working for you why mess with it.if something is not working then look for something that will work better for you.

I personally like the stiffer pounder rods for bucktails. I just have to watch my reel casting drag or I birdsnest a lot... Sounds like its working for you so keep it up

That rod was my all around rod a few years back. Yes it was stiff it I liked it, and I adjusted accordingly. I use one combo for everything. I find it simpler that way, others run 2,3,4,5... If it works for them perfect.

But my jawbreaker castes everything well enough and some baits excellent so run it if you want. You won't go to jail if try baits on a rod not perfectly suited for them.

If your able to get enough whip while casting and you can load it up with a fish your fine. If either these don't happen it will cost in distance or loss percentage

I just switched this rod from my dedicated pounder rod to my dedicated bucktail rod, and I'm loving it...I liked it a lot for pounders too, but I've got other rods that I can use for them.
