Blew the fuse on the trolling motor positive wire Monday.
Just got a chance to look at it yesterday.
They were old glass 40 amp fuses.
Changed to a 35 amp and my depth finder which is on the same line ran fine.
Switched on trolling motor and blew fuse right away.
Checked on line and the 55lb motor needs a 60 amp circuit breaker.
Hope to give this a go tonight.

The fuses were old and looked like moisture in the fuse holder.
35 amp is to small so we shall see.
Didn't find anything wrong with wiring.

Hope it's not the trolling motor.

Make sure your wiring is rated for the amperage you are asking it to handle
DC is quite different

It was just weird that this happened.
Been running as is for years.
Looks like 6 or 8 awg.

You might want to pull the prop and check for fishing line or weeds wrapped around the shaft. If blowing a fuse as soon as you turn it on though, that is a sign of something shorted out.

Yeah your right.
I was going with wishful thinking.
There is no line anywhere.

Looks like I'll be checking the seals on the lower unit of trolling motor.
Could be full of water causing a short.

Fixed it.
Where I spliced in TM plug there was a short.
Must have gotten water in there.
Will be soldering the splice later.
