| I will be on vermilion next week for the first time. With all that water there has to be some areas to fish and get away from the tournament guys right? |

Nope...100+ boats and the regular guys....It will be really busy. |

| Might be doing a lot of my fishing at night I guess. Fished along side guys pre fishing for a tournament before it seemed they tend to think they have rights to spots just because they are in a tournament hopefully this isn't the case with PMTT guys. |

Perfect time for your first time! Find the boats with numbers 1-10 on the motor, pull right up to them and fish the reefs and islands they are on - they will be good spots and you can make some new friends |

| What distance would you consider respectful to pull up and start fishing? |

Got to love the bug hatch this week, too!
Good luck to everybody fishing in the tournament.
I'll probably be out there with everybody else.
Get in line, and grin and bare it!

| bahaha...this is so true. However I did see the biggest fish of my life off of potato and then the guy behind me comes in and catches it. It dont matter how many baits these fish see. When they eat....they EAT!!!
Oh and i'll be up there this weekend too. The more the merrier.

| Just because your boat has #10 (example) on the side doesnt mean they know how to fish lake vermilion. However, Justins right when he says look where the most guys are fishing....they may or may not be on fish but on good spots. Yea I would stick to night if I were you as we will be pounding the heck out of spots. I do not think its that anyone thinks they have the right to a spot, but with that many boats were definitely going to slide into a spot if we know there are fish on it. |

Location: MN | Everyone knows all the community spots on Vermilion.
There are many other spots that I have raised fish on too.
Like was mentioned before when the ski want to eat they eat.
Been in tournaments where we would get in line to fish a spot, pretty funny.
Sometimes tournament folks do think they can move in on everyone else on a spot.
Not cool.
Have fun fish hard.

that's pretty much Vermillion just about anytime except the best time when most have put their boats away. |

Location: Minnesota. | Look at it this way, it's a PITA when you get a "rude dude", tourney or not, who jumps in on you. But the V is a huge lake and sometimes getting forced to fish elsewhere just "might" pay off dividends in finding unsuspected fish.
I hate it as much as anyone but move on and don't -try not to - let it bugger up the evening. Kind'a like walleye fishing in the wind and having to hide behind an island. Sometimes....it pays...
(still a PITA!!) ;-)) |

| People do that one Eagle Lake in Ontario too. OR see a fish and sit on the community spot for 3-4 hours. It's all good...lots of water, and we went a popped a 47 on a nearby secondary spot and let them watch us. Know the water, and be versatile...you'll be fine. |

Location: North MN | Fished Vermillion Friday might, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend. Had some success but didn't boat a ski.
Saturday we started out casting but did some trolling for a while in the afternoon to relax. Caught some nice pike with a 32,33, and a 38 all boated. The 38 was on a grandmas 12" sucker black. That night we did some more casting and I moved a muskie in a community spot by a rock pile using a double ten black skirt chrome blades. It was a big muskie I'd say 47-50 but very lazy and not aggressive. I lost him on my double 8 as one of my eights wasn't wide enough and didn't give him enough room to turn :[. Threw a lot of different looks at the fish this weekend mostly cowgirls, crankbaits, topwaters, and a couple big plastics.
Saw a lot of people musky fishing at Vermillion last weekend, never seen so many rangers on a lake in my life. Probably some of the tournament guys getting a pre-fish in. I think this weekend I will head to Leech as it's going to be very active up at Vermillion. Good look to everyone!

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Went out for about 6 hrs yesterday...I was surprised NOT to see that many muskie boats, especially on the more well known spots.
The water temps were 70-72 at sunset... Cool nights into the low 50's should drop the water temps even more. |

Location: MN | love it. Old boats get no respect. My dad is running an old Mirrocraft from 1986 cat crap yellow. My favorite is when we pop into the bait shop near our cabin to get the word on the salmon, trout, and walleye bite. The bait shop owner tells us word is the yellow boat from WI is in town follow him and you will be fine. Took the old man a few minutes to click that he was the yellow boat. |
