Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade a Minn Kota Trolling motor to a universal transducer lower unit if it doesn't already have one?
Barring that, anyone know if it's possible to install an aftermarket transducer to the lower unit of a Minn Kota motor in some fashion?

Just wondering....

Yes you can install transducers onto an existing Minn Kota TM, I doubt you can upgrade the lower unit itself however to a transducer unit.

I don't believe you can add the universal transducer since it's integrated into the motor housing.

To mount an external transducer, check out the video at Walleye Workshop. The method shown on the Humminbird website will not work very well with a Terrova since, when anchored with spot lock, the unit often turns more than 360 degrees.

I have a terrova with built in sonar and I added one just like the walleye workshop video. It was easy and I was able to clean up some mess in the top of the shaft that probably reduces heat build up and lowered the BS signals displayed on higher sensitivity settings on the 959

I've got a Powerdrive v2, I'm hoping it has the same channel that the Terrova has, if so these vids are perfect. Thanks Guys!

Should be easy to install, just take caution when deploying/stowing to make sure the cord doesn't catch on anything and it should work great.

Unfortunately the v2 does not have that channel on the motor shaft...

Correct, you just have to feed the wire through the power cable coil up
