Location: Minnesota | In Minnesota most lakes there is a 54" size limit on muskies there might be a few Minneapolis lakes that have a smaller size. Some one in Wisconsin is trolling and is keeping muskies peeing people off that's OK it's his right. I was just wondering what different state's have for size limit on they're musky fishing . Minnesota up there game this year to 54" dose any other state have that size?

Location: Minnesota | Yes they allow trolling in Minnesota but you can only use one line. I was just more curious about what other states have for size limits on there muskies. I'm guessing wherever he is fishing it must be small to have so many legal fish. My guess he is just some punk kid playing on the computer. |

| I suppose everybody has their own idea of a trophy, I'll likely have one done if I catch a 48"+ fish. The stocking program in the lake I primarily fish started in 1996, lake record is 51" caught two years ago, and the conservation department netted a 55" when they did their annual survey last year. It's a small lake, only 850 acres, but the hours per fish is just under 8. |

| In IL its 36 but lots of lakes have larger limits like the Fox Chain is 48". For me to get a replica it would have to be well over 50" |

Location: Michigan | Michigan is mainly 42" with some lakes having a 50" limit. We also have a muskie tag system so an angler can legally only keep 1 fish each year and they have to have a tag to keep it. |

Location: Minnesota | This is interesting. I would have thought there would have been higher size limits. With groups like musky Inc I was thinking there would have been a more standard size. I wonder what state will make muskies a catch and release only fish? |

| The variation may have something to do with stocked vs. native, but that's just a guess and definitely not the entire reason. |

| You also have to look at the department of natural resources in each state and see how they manage stuff. For all the people who are angry at MN's DNR, they've created one heck of a muskie program focused on creating trophies. Hence why they originally proposed a 55" min? Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.
They do a really good job of managing off science. It's just a matter of getting that science through the politics of things. |

| It's great we have the 54 here in MInn but it will be used against us.
Antis and politicians will say,,,,now that it's almost impossible to keep a muskie so there's no need to stock has many. We need to be ready to defend that quota were getting now on the stocked lakes. |

| Most lakes here in Kentucky have a 36 inch size limit. The streams have a 30 inch size limit. There used to be a 2 fish per day creel limit. Now, it is one fish per day.
I just wrote a letter to our fish and wildlife agency petitioning for a size limit increase.
The size limit increase probably wouldn't help with what is happening at the lake where I usually fish. The Amish have started musky fishing and they keep everything they catch. Unfortunately, they have caught on pretty quick and one boat that I know of kept 12 fish in a week's time.
And, they aren't trolling. They are casting from sun up to sun down. |
