Location: Eastern Ontario | So I edited some go pro captures with Windows Live Movie Maker and when I saved the result which seemed to take forever it changed the file format from MP4 to WMV is this an issue? What is the desired format to keep these things? |

You can download a free program to change it back to avi or MP4. Whatever you choose |

| GoPro has a free Software called GoPro Studio
It seems to do the job -but there is a lot to learn-You tube has good
videos on how to use it -
First step is to View & Trim your files that you shot-then it will convert them to AVI File format so you can Edit clips -Zoom-change Speed - Horizontal & Vertical and Capture screen shots Mute sound or add Music -Then you will Export to MP4 File format in desired Frame size.
Older computers will be a slow process and play back may be jerky but the file
will be fine viewed on other devices
Good Luck
Here are a few that I uploaded to You tube -still a lot to learn
Here is a zoom edit

Do you happen to know the name of that program. I'm always a bit suspicious of free programs.
Does WMV only work on a windows computer?
Thanks

Location: Eastern Ontario | All I want to do is cut out some boring parts and share with a few friends maybe facebook but unlikely. Just want a record when fishing alone would like to be able to pull some decent stills. Nobody that doesn't know me would have any interest and I'm not pretty enough for prime time.
And now a facebook question if I put a video on facebook to be seen by my 2 friends can they take it and post it somewhere else?

| i have the AVS4YOU. it's not free but it's not all that expensive. there are several programs in it. when you pay the fee you can download any or all of them. One of the programs converts video to other formats and there is one that edits them. you can check them out.

| ^^ I second that. I've used several different video editors, and GoPro Studio is by far the easiest to use for basic movie editing purposes. And, it's free.
If you want to speed up the processing, you need more CPU power/cores. That's gonna be the case regardless of the software used. |

| Do programs like power director and others come on a disc or download only? I am wondering if you can buy a disc to use on a couple computers or do you have to download and limited to one computer. Also, do you lose video quality with these? I have had some big fish that were easily seen in the standard go pro mp4 format but when I convert to avi or wmv for movie maker the quality goes down the tubes. I have tried saving in HD and it doesn't really seem to make a difference. |
