I have a custom Thorne bros rod and the top rod guide came loose. Nothing is broken, but it appears they used a glue to hold it in place? I'm wondering what kind of glue I can use to repair it.

Is a two part epoxy acceptable? I prefer not to use a super glue because I have seen it attack plastics in the past.

Use a heat activated Plastisol adhesive. That way if the guide breaks again you can replace it without damaging the blank.

I agree with the above. I've seen guys glue rods and have issues down the line. But I would just take it to Thorne, why mess around.

There's the glue sticks that you use in a glue gun that you can apply heat to. These same glue sticks come with the rod tip repair kits made by Fuji & Eagle Claw. Don't use too much heat on the tip of the rod else you will damage the rod blank. When putting the rod tip back on it's best to cut a small piece off the glue stick & put it into the hole in the tip top & heat it then place it on the end of the rod. This will prevent you from over heating the end of the rod tip & causing damage.

Glue stick works for me, it`s quick and easy. I just heat the tip of the glue stick away from the tip of the rod and put the glue and rod guide on the tip quickly before the glue solidifies. Wipe off the excess glue and it`s good to go. It works every time and rarely comes off. I never heat the tip of the rod.
