| Looking into taking my wife, 4 year old son and mother in law to Hayward area early to mid August. Looking for family friendly resort on Chippewa flowage or maybe Tigercat flowage paying no more than $1500 for the week. Most of my musky fishing has been done in the Vilas County area so anywhere in Sawer county will be new for me. Any advice is appreciated.

Location: Hudson, WI | The Chip has beaten me into submission too many times for me to recommend it. Even though it is beautiful, fun to fish and has a ton of great resorts. Tiger Cat is pretty, but can't speak to the fishing on it. Only fished it once and caught a couple 30"ers and a bunch of snake northerns and largies.
There are lots of better options in my opinion. Spider, Lost Land/Teal being the ones I would hit if I had my choice. Sand would be up there, too. |

| I have a cabin in the area The flowage abuses me most of the time I fish it, some great fish but go find them , Tiger Cat has lots of 26-30" muskys, a real winner that's close to TC is Lost Land , fish the north end where the creek comes in tons of cabbage in that area. Both clam lakes are fun upper and lower. 15 min from TC. |

Location: MN | I have a hard time staying away from the Big Chip.
Lately I've moved more fish off the beaten path than the communal spots.
Sisko's is one of the cheapest places on the lake and have done a ton of upgrades the last two years.

my folks live on the TCF.. so i have fished it ALOT! I have seen ONE fish that was for sure 40"+. Every fish i have seen and caught from that chain is 26"-36". The last couple years it has really turned into an outstanding lmb fishery. northerns have bloomed a bunch throughout the chain as well. Fun lakes to fish though. Some dandy bass in there now. |

Location: Oconomowoc, WI | Deerfoot Lodge on the Chip is where I have been staying for the past 20+ years. Nice location, clean, affordable. Let me know if you need any spots on the chip, it's about the only lake I know well for muskies. |

I was camping there over the 4th and the cabins look VERY nice there. Good location too on the Chip, pretty close to dead center. I didn't move a fish in the three days I was there but it was my first time up there. Seemed like everywhere I went, or wanted to go, had 3-5 boats on it. I didn't even find these spots using a hot spots map either, just navionics web app and my hummingbird. I hope I can go there more often but it's far from where I live. |

Ya the week of the 4th is pretty busy.
I'm finding myself fishing the east side more lately.
Pete's Bar very early before the camp ground wakes up.
Then I stay away from that area, lots of pleasure boaters.
You mentioned 3-5 boats on a spot.
Try a tournament there where boats get in line to fish spots like Sand Island.
Anyway... that lake sure is a lot of fun.

| i spend alot of time on the chip. it can be tough but there is just something about that place. if you go i would recommend indian trail resort. owners are super nice and are diehard musky fishermen. |

| Fished them both several times. TCF has a lot of fish and I have boated a couple over 40 but most are smaller. Bass and pike are great too for family fishing. The Chip is awesome (just got back from there) but it can be tough as people say. A guide will help on the Chip - TCF much easier to figure out. There are plenty of other species available for the family. On the Chip many resorts/bars/restaurants to boat to which makes for fun days on the water too. |

| Best bet is to call some resorts. Many are booked for the season, but I have heard some still have openings. My fishing has been very limited on the chip this year, only 2 hours on the water actually fishing, but had two 35-40" fish up in that time. 
Still my favorite lake to fish! |

Location: S.W. WI | You are staying in a good area of the lake. Close to alot of good muskie spots. Get a map, find cabbage, main lake stuff, deep edge.

Better-?- Worse..? Some years West Chip is better for me than East Chip.
Some good areas over there too, just maybe not as many. Clearer water- not tannic stained, algae blooms are more pronounced, deeper weed lines. |

Location: Sauk City WI | My in-laws have a cabin across the bay from Daggetts. Can be pretty good at times. There isn't a ton of weeds in chief but the squaw bay area has some fish and the central flow age area around the cc bridge isn't too bad of a run.
