| Looking for some assistance figuring out why my Lund Pro V 1900 boat was taking on water. While fishing today, the auto bilge pump kicked on after we were on the water for 4 1/2 hours. After it stopped pumping the 1st time, it kept turning on every 10-15 minutes and pumping until it satisfied the float switch. I mentioned about the 4 1/2 hours because it must have started today or it would have been pumping all day. I fish from the rear of the boat and heard a pump running. I looked into the bilge area and noticed the pump mounted to the transom was running continuously. I have no switch to control this pump. I have switches to control the circulating pumps for the live wells front and rear, but no switch for this pump. It would stop when I turn off the main power switch. While this pump was running is when the boat was taking on water.
Does anyone have any information about this pump? Is it supposed to be running continuously? If so, should I be looking for a cracked or broken hose? |

Location: NE Ohio | i find it hard to imagine there would be no switch for any pump in a boat of any kind. sounds like you found the leaking system and fixing it can be a pain. been there done that. good luck, hope its in an easy place to access. |

Location: Aurora IL | Ron,it sounds like a broken hose or fitting. I,ve had the same thing. The pump should be switched at your dash with the man/auto switch, if you have a livewell timer it may be sticking. If you have a prolong plus system it will suck in water as you are moving and the pump will suck in while drifting. Bill |

| I have the PROLONG PLUS system. I'm learning the system and have a pretty good understanding of what the pumps are and what they do. I have a question about the pump mounted on the transom below the splash well.
I will refer to this as a livewell "fill pump" for lack of knowledge. What is this pump called and what controls this pump. Any help would be appreciated. |

| Are you sure that isn't a bilge pump? My boat has two bilge pumps. One auto and one manual. I suspect you have a leak somewhere allowing water to get in, could be any number of hose fittings, etc and when enough water gets in it starts the pump. Start by tightening all hose clamps or checking to make sure one of them didn't break. |

Location: MN | I had a cracked fitting on my front live well pump.
Lot's of water fast.

| I know its not a bilge pump. I have 5 pumps, 2 to circulate the water in the front and rear livewell, 1 auto bilge pump, 1 regular bilge pump and a pump that mounts to the transom with a hose connected directly to the back of the boat for lake water to fill the livewells. I can't find what controls this motor and why its running whenever the main power switch is turned on. |

Location: MN | Time to start pulling up floor boards to take a look.
I then ran the hose up each livewell intake.
Found the culprit fast.
