jigs, jigs, and more jigs...

When I've used jigs in the past, I've noticed that after repeated casting, the jigs start to fall off. Is there any glue that can be used to keep them on? Musky Innovations suggests using super glue when replacing their tails. Any suggestions? What do you guys use for a leader set-up for jigs? Leader and splitring, or leader and snap? Or do you build your leaders onto your jigs?

Thanks,
MJB

A drop of Superglue on the plastic, then push it up on the jig and let it 'kick'. It will hold for awhile.

I use 60# Sevenstrand wire for my leaders.

One can create variations of any creature by clipping, using a candle to melt the plastic, and 'welding' your creation together. Lizard to reaper is one of my favorites, as is lizadr to large twister, in multiple colors.

I use a sinking minnow bait or rattle-trap for jigging and don`t have to worry about any rubbers falling off! That could be very BAD! Jeff [;)]

MJB, having jig fished for Muskies for the better part of 20 years, I can tell you from experience that you should just put up with the slide down effect of your plastic on your jig. My reasoning behind this is much the same as having a very hard surface on a jerk bait, you want the bait to slide in the fishes mouth. If the Musky has a lot of rubber or soft plastic such as a jig trailer to sink her teeth into and this does not slide on the hook, positive hookups are very hard to come by. The jig that I use most of the time is one that I designed and is currently on the market at all the better Musky shops. E mail me and I will let you know which one it is. I don't think that I should advertise here. [email protected]

by all MEANS, muskyone, tell us about your jig, please. I am always loohing for a good addition to my Creature selection, and added Tony P's from Bait Rigs, designed by Herbie, a few days ago. Very nice jig, and excellent hooking percentage.[]

Note the 'administrator' tag, you have permission to brag up your lure!

The jig that I am refering to is now marketed by Odyssey Lures, it is called the "Porky Jig". I fish it with either a large lizard or with a rubber skirt and pork, same as the bass guys. This combination works extremly well for fish in our area.

As always, Let 'Em Go...Let 'Em Grow...........Mike
