| Where can I find the heavy duty shrink tube that is used on the rear hook of cowgirls or other bucktails? I can only seem to find thin stuff that does not hold up.

Location: MN | Go to EBay and get 3/8 inch 2-1 shrink tubing I buy it there 10 feet for 6.50 that includes the shipping. Moore lures also sells the same stuff for 1 per foot. I'm not a big fan of paying for branding mark ups myself. One of the best things about working on your own lures or making them yourself is being able to save a little cash. |

Location: Poynette WI. | I've uses a smaller size diameter shrink wrap and will add I tiny bit of oil in it to get to to slide over the split ring. I also add a small piece of coil to go on top of my wire wrap so that the shrink wrap has something bigger to tighten down on other than my 3 wire wraps and .051 wire. I use the stuff from the hard ware store too and works just fine. |

Location: Poynette WI. | I've also noticed quit a few builders only using enough shrink wrap to keep the hook straight or just enough to cover the split ring, is this so when you have a fish on there able to move the hook or is it to save money on material or just the way they built them? Like I said before I've always tried to make sure my hooks are as secure as I can get them with shrink wrap. |

Location: Detroit River | I buy mine from an auto parts store (O'Reily's). It comes in a 8 foot roll & it's made by Dorman. I've had no issues with it holding the hook out straight & it's held up to the teeth marks. Though I also use a longer piece (approx 2 3/4") that covers the wire wraps down as far as the bends in the treble hook. Running the heat shrink tubing down a far as I can put it on the treble helps prevent the flashabou from getting caught between the bends in the hook.

This stuff works just fine but I would say it is the "lighter" stuff, the gray, vs the heavier duty black stuff you find on some baits |

Location: oswego, il | I bought a 100ft roll on eBay, used it up found an online store that sells it in that bulk. 3/8" and you.can get it in multiple colors. I have some red and black. I keep a shot glass filled with vegetable oil which helps getting shrink wrap and skirts onto the lure. Again you can double up the pieces of shrink wrap. Start with a 3/8" and a 1/2" over the top. The stuff isn't that expensive nor is it complicated. |
