Heard from a buddy that Cortland is going out of business. I searched the Web looking for info on it but didn't find much. Anyone else heard this and is it true? It's my favorite line by far and would hate to see it gone.

Thanks!

I found this article.. not sure if that means the whole company or just that facility? I hope they are not going out of business... I just started using their line this year, and am impressed so far.

To me that just sounds like the outlet store is closing and so it should a manufacture should not be in competion with it's retailers

Oofta! Glad the link was posted. After reading that I agree with Horsehunter. I think only the outlet store is closing (actually might have already closed April 15th), but the company sounds like it's staying open.

Glad the rumor is false. On the contrary, the last link indicates they are doing fairly well.

It's the best braid I've ever used, and my friends that fly fish swear by their fly line as well.

Yeah, so happy as well. Thanks for finding that information out guys. I've used a few other lines and it just seems the best overall line IMO. Good News!

No doubt. That is why the government gave them a bunch of money.
I recall the auto industry was doing so well that the government rewarded them with a bunch of money too.
I remember when Cortland sold 2-3 years ago a lot of folks (myself included) were surprised they kept the plant open. They do make great braided line. Their fly line was great 10-20 years ago. That's where the money is. If they don't overhaul that side of the business you best be buying up that Masterbraid now.

The mining industry is strong yet Scott Walker gives them all sorts of regulatory gifts. Go figure.
