Looking to get a couple reels cleaned and repaired quickly. One is a Tranx and the other is a Calcutta 400TE. Any suggestions on the best place to bring it? I live in the northern metro but could drop it off anywhere in the twin cities.

I think Wayzata bait & tackle does them.

Take them to Tong at Thorne Bros. I was in a jam last week and he offered to look at a 400 TE the same day. Not pretending that that is a standard lead time, but he was willing to try to help out.

I've used Wayzata as an emergency back up. They do fine work. Otherwise I'll do cleaning/lubing myself. Everything else goes to Pikemaster who magically makes my gear work better than new.

Word of caution: I have used Trail's End Bass Pro (HWY 65 between 694 and thorne's) 3 times unsuccessfully. I liked the owner so I really wanted it to work out. However, the guys he has working on reels have done terrible work for me. Reels come back broken. They seem to do great with Abu 6500's, but broke parts on my Calcutta 400 and can't figure out my Saltists. Ask Jbad about our trip to LOTW where half my reels didn't work after "just getting serviced".

I just had two reels (tranx and revo) cleaned and one repaired at Vados bait store off of Hwy 65 before the season started. Price was reasonable and they were done pretty quick.

Nice people, not the best service. I brought them 2 reels a few years back. They said about a week. 3 weeks later I got them back... No special parts either. The guy was 'out of town'.

Propster from this board is the only one that works on my reels! Top notch, you won't be sorry! PM him and he'll take care of you!

Another vote for Vados. I've brought a half dozen reels in there this year and very happy with the work and price.
