Location: Waukee, IA | I was fortunate enough to meet James from Tackle Industries today at his home base while I was in the area for work. I had broken a TI rod (and the reel attached to it) in a stupid way and brought it along to exchange under warranty. We got to talking and long story short I ended up with one of his new 9 1/2 foot XH rods along with a few lures that caught my eye. Wow is it a sweet rod. I can't believe how light it feels for a long stick, can't wait to get it on the water Sunday. James could not have been better to deal with and a heck of a nice guy on top of that.
Anybody else have one of these new rods? If so, other than the length difference how do they compare to the old XH ones? Similar stiffness and action? |

Location: Waukee, IA | I got to look at a 10' xxh while I was there, it was great also but I already have two rods that fit that purpose. |

I wanted to make sure guys who are fishing out of a freighter can still figure 8 while standing up straight
These rods will be ready to go late July/early August but just in time for when the big girls put on the feed bag
PS-Travis, you stop by anytime. I don't get many musky visitors down here in Iowa like I did in Minnesota...

Location: Waukee, IA | I didn't realize we shot the breeze for over an hour until I got into my car. I'll look you up next time I'm in town for work, hopefully I have some pics of what the rod is capable of by then. Your shop made me feel like a kid in a candy store. |

Location: Waukee, IA | I fished yesterday for 12 hours with the new rod and it's incredible. Faster action and a little more backbone than my older style 9' XH. It threw everything up to mag dawgs with ease (left the pounders at home). The old XH seemed a little soft for double 10s in the figure 8 but this new blank handled it very well. The little bit of extra length goes a long way for ease of casting. All in all, it's my new favorite rod. |
