Night fishing and headlights?

I bought one of those 3 setting headlights. 1 is a blue light that is very dull. 2 is a blue light that is just dull. And 3 is a normal flashlight bulb that is fairly bright. Now, I can barely see anything with the blue bulbs. Would the 3rd bulb if shown in the water when watching your lure scare any following fish away when night fishing?

Thanks,

Red lens is the best, I just use the running lights-green light from the front of the boat(right side). One other trick is to add a slip bobber knot to your line about 6 to 8 inches from your leader. When your feel and hear the tick from the knot its time to start your figure 8 and hang on. Most of the fish that you will get to follow you have a great chance to stick. Fish at night seem to eat at the boat, its the first turn that gets them.

Great advice Mike...

As far as head-lights are concerned I use the single colored ones with the battery pack that clips on your belt. Same thing the racoon hunters use for hunting at night. Their about $50 each but well worth the price in performance and durability.

Glo-beads on your line work well too but I have found slip-bobber knots to be a little more user friendly...

The first time you get one to hit next to the boat at night will just about cause you to have to change your shorts...:)
