Has anyone had any problems with this model? I need to replace my LCX25 and this is in the ball park for price and features

Had mine for a little over a year and it has been flawless. I know there have been some issues with linking it with the Terrova but as a stand-alone unit at the bow, it has been great.

I have an 859ci HD (no down imaging) and love it. I've only had it since last fall, though. I also don't have iPilot Link, but I do use it with my Terrrova's Universal Sonar transducer. Works very well. Very nice, bright screen.

I've run 2 859s also with no down imaging for the last two seasons and I am very pleased with them. I had an elite 7 and hds 5 before that and I definitely prefer the birds

I have two 859 Di's and they are a great unit for the money. As FYI...the DI doesn't work with US2. I learned this after getting the second for the bow. Some what frustrating to find out humminbird let this happen. I'm not sure if trying to use that DI unit with the US2 messed things up or not but I can't get my 787 to read off the US2 either. The boat was new to me when I added the 859 DI to the bow. I'm going to be stuck dealing with TM ducer cable on my power drive now...or until I upgrade to a terrova.

Did you check the "Connected Transducer" setting under the Sonar tab? If you use it with the built-in transducer (Terrova or PowerDrive V2), try setting it to "Universal Sonar 2".

Using a DI unit on a US2 can damage the built in transducer. It is not ment to handle the power need for a DI unit. For most people a standard unit works best on the bow. A standard unit uses a cone, you can see more of what is coming ahead of you. A DI unit has a very narrow beam (think a 2x4 that goes out to the sides only. You can not see that you are coming up onto structure. Also with a DI beam every time you turn it can distort the reading. A DI gives you the best picture from 2-6 MPH which most people are not doing with their trolling motor.

I have it set on correct ducer and have tried playing with every other setting as well. I can occasionally get a faint bottom reading and than its gone. I am pretty upset that this problem was not noted anyplace in the instructions and I more than likely ruined my us2 ducer. I will try to get humminbird to help correct this issue but the last time I talked to them all they were willing to do was swap me out for the 859 non-DI and at that time I hadn't figured that the Us2 was shot.. So I would be out about 100 buck there and a junk us2. Urrrggh

It is noted in the US2 compatibility chart, no DI units are listed as working with it. I don't see how this is Humminbirds fault?

You could always run the DI transducer to the back of the boat.
