Earlier in the season around the 4th of July, My Father and I and my nephew boated 9 muskies in about a 2 week span, all we re located within a 2 block section of water, fish ranged from the smallest of 35 to the largest being 46". They were located in a slough like area adjacent to the river. After a few weeks they seem to move out of the area. Anyone have any insight to why they would do this. Havent seen a muskie on that stretch for about a month and a half now. Thanks, and all were released. Hoss

I think the muskies were in there because the food was there.I fish a small river pretty hard, probably too much, anyway,I think the muskies move more in rivers than in lakes due to the forage movements.I wish I could tell you what they prefur, suckers, mooneyes, sheephead, panfish etc... All I know is that most river system muskies are very nomadic, more so during the spring and summer than the fall or winter.I hope I have helped,Paul

I have also fished the same area you fished before. The muskies seem to be stacked in there in hot summer months. The cold water draws baitfish, like suckers etc. Once the rest of the system cools down the draw is not there for the baitfish and the muskies wont be there looking for them.[;)]

Find the food, and the muskies will be there..[]

If it is the same area I'm thinking of, the muskies do come back in there in late fall, once the creek water is warmer than the surroundings, otherwise they seem to be back in spring spots, or areas we find them before they go up in there in summer.
