| Planer Board Lights? Anyone have a bright idea? (no pun intended). Looking for a relatively inexpensive option that is still bright, preferably with the ability to run red on the left and green on the right. What are you all using? |

| Glow tape from Glowin outdoors. (glowinoutdoors.com) he has some tape with reflectors on it also.
It stays charged for a long time, Is very bright and you can see it a long ways out.
I have one set of boards that I've had the tape on for 3 years and its still like new.
He has tape in the shape of a arrow also that is very nice for top of trolling motor head after dark.

| Get the tea pot lights on ebay. We use them trolling on Michigan and they work great. Simply drill a hole in the front of the board and push them in. When they burn out, replace them. They last a whole season. |

Location: Money, PA | There a few advantages that you won't find in your tea lites....1 - they are submersible and water tight. 2 - assortment of colors. 3 - They are pre threaded so that you just thread the light right into the hole you drill....At $4.50 ea. I'll take them ready to go rather than messing around with dollar store tea lites that need worked on to be board ready....All for a couple dollar savings? Ummm not me.....Good Luck |

| I had someone ask whether the coots were technically legal, so I asked the DNR.. I didn't hear back, so I went out and bought 3 pairs of the fireflys... only to get this email back today.. Apparently they are not technically legal... Though I have them now.

Location: Hayward, WI | That's interesting. I would think, according to that email, that red, green, or blue (blue? why not blue?) bobber lights would not be legal either.
I'm not one to intentionally break the law, but I wouldn't think too many wardens would give you a hard time for bobber or planer board lights.
I think almost all bobber lights I've seen are red, green, or blue also.
Side note - what are the tea cup lights? I checked Ebay and couldn't find anything that looked like it would work for what we're talking about. |

When you accidentally run the red light planer board on starboard and you wind up with a ski boat parked on your bow casting deck you'll know it was a bad idea. |
